The exhibition of the coffee houses of Tel Aviv (1920- 1980) sheds light on the social and cultural life of Tel Aviv, focusing on selected coffee houses – their architectural styles, décor, their owners and patrons, the culture of spending time there as a form of  entertainment, the menu and service, their impact on Tel Aviv as a new, modern, and immigrant-absorbing city.

 

The exhibition shows announcements, posters, rare photographs, items found in the coffee houses (original drawings of patrons and artists sketched in certain coffee houses, and two original murals from the walls of the "Kassit coffee house, one by Yossel Bergner and one by Uri Lifshitz) original architectural sketches, and more.
